Introducing Candy Electric Blue Enamel Paint by Alclad II, a 1oz bottle designed for use on injection-molded plastic kits. For optimal results, applying a primer is essential.
Regular ALCLAD boasts a strength comparable to lacquer and cellulose car paints; however, be cautious as injected polystyrene may be prone to crazing. To prevent this, we recommend using one of the following primers:
- Tamiya Plastic Primers (white or grey)
- Auto Primer (white or grey)
- Future/Klear (floor sealer/polish)
For the best finish, lightly polish the plastic primers with 1000/1200 wet & dry paper to achieve a glossy surface. Keep in mind that both ALCLAD High Shine – Chrome and Polished Aluminum require a dark glossy base for optimal results. For instance, use Polished Aluminum over Tamiya TS-14 gloss black or gloss black auto paint, while Chrome should only be applied over gloss black model enamel paint.
When it comes to spraying, ensure your compressor is set between 15-20psi and hold the airbrush 1.5 to 2.5 inches from the model. Treat the airbrush like a paintbrush, rather than an aerosol. Buffing is not necessary, although you can create tonal variations by polishing specific panels with micromesh. No sealer is required, and Regular ALCLAD can be masked and over-painted. Note that while decal solutions can be used with Regular ALCLAD, they are not recommended for Chrome or Polished Aluminum.

I’ve tried several brands, but Alclad II’s Candy Electric Blue is by far the best airbrush paint for model kits I’ve used. The color is vibrant and easy to apply.

Great quality paint for the price. I was looking for cheap enamel paint for plastic models, and this exceeded my expectations. Will buy again!
